Montuoro Guitar Co. Style 5 Auditorium 14 Fret
The answer to the next Great Depression
This guitar is an example of the fact that I can build outside of the Larson box. Pun intended. It is also a shining example of what is possible for a lot less money. May be my answer to this economic meltdown that we are in.
This instrument was built with the wonderful OM guitars of the 1930's in mind, with changes to ornamentation and scale length - a bit longer than Martins. This guitar falls in the category of "beyond Martin", meaning it incorporates an enlarged soundhole and is built under tension but has a scalloped forward bracing design popularized by Martin in the 1930's.
I am a huge fan of banjo tuners. Although the Waverly version of the tuners are really attractive and more like the older Grover tuners, I chose the Five Star Planetary tuners because they are not as heavy. They seem to add a really nice balance to the neck.
The bridge on this guitar is my version of mating a belly bridge with a straight bridge. A Montuoro Guitar Co. exclusive. The nut is of ebony which adds a nice balance of warmth to the sound. The finish is my varnish that I call Sicilian Violin. Its very simple wood purflings are surrounded by black binding. A flattened neck heel allows more access to the upper frets, although it is offered with the traditional French heel as well. The fingerboard markers were a custom option and can be replaced with simple dots. Back and sides are the more affordable Indian Rosewood. Don't let the price fool you, it's a superb tone wood.
These are indeed hard times for many. But for those who are looking for a more affordable hand built instrument you need look no further. I will be offering a special price for this style instrument throughout 2009. Please contact me for further details. Its a one time chance to capitalize on these hard times without having to settle for an inferior instrument. Some of the greatest instruments were built during our last Depression. Let's see what happens this time around.
As always thanks for looking!
